Training | Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us at 337.345.4582 to discuss your specific questions.

That depends on your situation. The state of Louisiana has Constitutional Carry as of July 4, 2024.  It applies to anyone age 18 or older who can legally own a firearm. All the rules and laws associated with concealed carry permits still apply, such as 'prohibited places'.

In our opinion, there three main reasons to renew or acquire your Louisiana Permit:

  1. Reciprocity - If your travel out of state, to states with reciprocity, your permit is honored and you do not have to disarm, or store your CCW according to that state law.
  2. In lieu of a NICS check - If you have a valid permit issued in the last 5 years, you do not need to have your information submitted to the FBI. This makes the transaction faster AND reduces the 'paper trail'..
  3. Training - If your CHP Instructor gives actual training as per LSP guidelines, you will benefit from going over Louisiana law and you will be given feedback on shooting fundamentals to help improve your abilities.

No. Some classes are classroom only. We do utilize Laser SIRT guns in an indoor setting.

This answer varies from class to class. Live fire classes will require Eye and Ear Protection. Some classes require specific firearms and ammunition. In other classes the firearm and ammunition is provided. Some classes require holsters, others do not. Most items are available for rent or sale if you do not currently own them.

This answer will vary from class to class. LA Concealed Handgun Permit classes require qualification with a minimum of 36 rounds. I recommend having at least 100 rounds on hand to qualify, and in most cases, shoot a little more after qualification.

FFL/Title 1 Transfers | Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us at 337.345.4582 to discuss your specific questions.

Yes, we accept all transfers, however, we recommend contacting us before transferring a Title 2 device, as it will more than likely cost more to transfer than to buy from us directly.

Generally speaking, we are able to acquire and sell almost any firearm and/or firearm accessory. We currently use about 10 Title 1 Distributors, and 8 Title 2 distributors. In most cases, we can match or beat new firearm sales. Support Local and contact us to see what we can do BEFORE buying online.

You've called us and we are unable to match the price of a new firearm, or you found a used gun you have to have. This is the typical process:

  1. The seller will need our FFL if we haven't already done business with them. You can retrieve our FFL from the 'Downloads' section of this website.
  2. The seller will ship your firearm to us and possibly provide you with tracking information. We will not schedule your transfer appointment until AFTER we have received your shipment.
  3. When the package is received, we will process with 2 business days. You will then be contacted to schedule your transfer appointment
  4. During the transfer appointment, we will need your current and correct drivers license or state issued ID, your Louisiana CHP (if you have one), and your transfer payment. Credit cards will be assessed a small processing fee.
  5. You will complete an ATF Form 4473, and we will submit it through NICS (unless you have a valid LA CHP, issued in the last 5 years), and you must stay until we have a NICS response.

We will assess a $30.00 per month storage fee for firearms that are left at our location. This fee will be due and paid before releasing the firearm.

NFA/Title 2 Transfers | Frequently Asked Questions

When you ccalled us and we are unable to match the price of a new NFA item, or you found a used gun you have to have. This is the typical process:

  1. The seller will need our FFL/SOT if we haven't already done business with them. You can retrieve our FFL/SOT from the 'Downloads' section of this website.
  2. The seller will Form 1 the item to us. This will take a period of time to be approved by the NFA. Once approved, the seller will ship your item to us and possibly provide you with tracking information. We will not schedule your appointment until AFTER we have received your item.
  3. See NFA Process FAQ below.
  4. When you receive your stamp, call to schedule a pickup time.
  5. You will complete an ATF Form 4473, and we will submit it through NICS (unless you have a valid LA CHP, issued in the last 5 years), and you must stay until we have a NICS response.

Whether you buy from us (recommended) or from another dealer, the NFA approval process is basically the same. This is our process:

  1. We have received your item, either in stock or shipped to us, we will call to schedule the initial appointment.
  2. During the initial appointment, we will advise you to create your Eforms account, we will go over how you want to register your item, and the pros and cons of each option (Individual, Trust, Corporation).
  3. We will need your current and correct drivers license or state issued ID, we will verify or take your photo, we will verify or take your prints, and we will collect your purchase/transfer payment. Credit cards will be assessed a processing fee.
  4. Once your account is setup and complete with all necessary information, we will assign your serial number. You will need to sign your docs electronically.
  5. After you sign, we will be able to certify your Form 4. You can come into our office, or we can do a remote screen share from your computer. During this time, you will receive an email from Eforms notifying you that your form status is 'In Progress'.
  6. Now we wait for the ATF to process. You will receive another email from Eforms letting you know when the status is 'Approved'. When you have received this email, call our office to schedule your item pickup.
  7. When you come in for your scheduled appointment, you will complete an ATF Form 4473, and leave with your item.

We will assess a $30.00 per month storage fee for firearms that are left at our location. This fee will be due and paid before releasing the firearm.
